Summer camp in Canada with a travelling itinerary: FCA Canadian Expedition takes students through five cities and three Canadian provinces over 21 days, in July.
What is a travelling summer camp?
A travelling summer camp is a holiday program that does not stay in a single city. Instead of concentrating activities on one campus, the group moves between destinations and lives each stage in a new setting.
FCA Canadian Expedition is the travelling summer camp of Fredericton Christian Academy (FCA), a private Christian school founded in 1978 in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. The format is rare in the international student travel market: instead of a month at the same school, participants cross Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick.
Planning and delivery are handled entirely by FCA, with Canadian teachers and bilingual group leaders accompanying the group full time.
How does the itinerary across the three provinces work?
The group travels through five cities in sequence, starting in Toronto and finishing in Fredericton. Each city has its own focus, combining city life, contact with universities and outdoor activities.
- Toronto, Ontario: arrival and orientation, CN Tower, Toronto Islands, Wonderland and the first university visit.
- Ottawa, Ontario: Parliament Hill, Rideau Canal, the science and technology museum and a look at campus life in the capital.
- Montréal, Quebec: Vieux-Montréal, Mount Royal and a visit to one of the most international universities in the country.
- Québec City, Quebec: Old Québec, the Citadelle, the Plains of Abraham and Montmorency Falls.
- Fredericton, New Brunswick: the final week in the school’s home city, with hiking trails, kayaking, Kings Landing, Mactaquac Park and the closing ceremony.
The itinerary is set before departure and may vary according to availability and local conditions.
Why does the program have two separate streams?
Because a student of 13 and a student of 18 are not at the same point in life. FCA Canadian Expedition divides the group into two streams by age range, each with its own purpose, and this split is also uncommon in holiday programs.
The two streams follow the same itinerary and spend time together, but their academic programming is distinct.
What does the Voyager stream offer students aged 13 to 16?
Voyager is the guided cultural immersion stream. The focus is on using English in real situations, gaining independence and building an international outlook in a supervised environment.
- Interactive classes and everyday English practice outside the classroom
- Daily group outings and excursions
- Cultural immersion in each of the five cities
- Creative and sports activities that build bonds between participants
- An organized routine, with learning around time management and responsibilities
It is the recommended option for students taking their first international trip without family.
What does the Pioneer stream offer students aged 17 to 19?
Pioneer is the academic positioning stream. It was designed for students deciding what to do after high school who want to understand, in practice, how undergraduate study works in Canada.
- Personalized projects and academic mentoring
- University visits with direct contact with admissions offices
- Conversations about campus life with students already enrolled there
- University pathway planning based on each participant’s goals
- Mock admission interviews
The expected outcome is clarity to decide, not a guarantee of admission to any institution.
Which Canadian universities are part of the itinerary?
The program includes visits to university campuses in four of the five cities, among them University of Toronto, University of Ottawa, McGill University and University of New Brunswick. The visits combine a campus tour with contact with admissions.
For the Pioneer stream, these visits are the core of the program. For Voyager, they work as a first contact with the university environment.
Where do students stay?
Accommodation is in university residences or hotels, depending on the city and the stage of the itinerary. The accommodation for each leg is confirmed before departure.
Three meals a day are served throughout the program, with options for dietary restrictions and allergies reported in advance.
What is included in the program?
- Accommodation throughout the 21 days
- Transportation between the cities on the itinerary
- Three meals a day
- Entry to the cultural attractions on the schedule
- FCA workshops, in person and online
- Full time bilingual supervision
- Health insurance
- FCA kit
- Official completion certificate issued by Fredericton Christian Academy (FCA)
The program is all inclusive on the ground portion. Airfare, passport, visa, electronic travel authorization and personal spending are not part of the package.
Who can take part and when does it happen?
FCA Canadian Expedition 2027 takes place in July 2027 and welcomes students aged 13 to 19, placed in the Voyager and Pioneer streams according to age.
There is no minimum English level required for the Voyager stream. For Pioneer, the mentoring sessions and mock interviews go further with intermediate English or above.
How does enrolment work?
Places are limited and enrolment is handled through the network of FCA partner agencies in Latin America. Conditions, deadlines and documentation are arranged directly with the partner agent.
Entry requirements for Canada may vary according to the participant’s country of origin and should be checked with official immigration sources before flights are purchased.
